On Saturday 3rd May, the WHISH (Whitby Hidden Impairments Support and Help) community came together for a wonderful day of gardening, creativity, and celebration.

Our Garden Day saw WHISH members of all ages roll up their sleeves and get stuck into planting, weeding, and tidying up our green spaces. It was inspiring to see the teamwork and care that everyone brought to the day – proof of how much our outdoor areas mean to our members.

A special highlight was welcoming our Local MP Alison Hume, who joined us for the official opening of our brand-new lift. This marks an important step in making our facilities truly accessible to all, and we’re incredibly grateful for their support.

Meanwhile, our Saturday Club added a touch of creativity to the day by making and decorating beautiful bug houses. These will soon be placed in the flowerbeds to encourage a healthy population of beneficial insects – a fun and educational way to help the environment while brightening up the garden.

We’re so proud of what we achieved together and thankful to everyone who came along to help or support. WHISH is about community, inclusion, and support – and this Garden Day was a perfect example of those values in action.

Here’s to a summer full of growth, accessibility, and buzzing life in the garden!
