This summer has been one for the books at the WHISH Hub, filled with unforgettable experiences, new friendships, and a whole lot of fun! Over the course of 18 days, we immersed ourselves in the FEAST program, explored the great outdoors during our East Barnby days, and took some fascinating trips that brought history to life.
FEAST at the Hub: 18 Days of Fun and Learning
The Hub was buzzing with excitement as we embarked on 18 days of FEAST activities. Each day was packed with creativity, discovery, and, most importantly, lots of laughter. We welcomed new members to WHISH, our wonderful community of families, and made some incredible memories along the way. Whether it was getting hands-on with arts and crafts or engaging in cooking our own food, every moment was a chance to learn something new and bond with friends old and new.
East Barnby Adventures: 6 Days of Exploration
Our adventures didn’t stop at the Hub. We also had six exhilarating days at East Barnby, where we embraced the outdoors and all it has to offer. From challenging ourselves with new physical activities to simply enjoying the beauty of nature, these days were a perfect blend of fun and adventure. East Barnby offered us the chance to step out of our comfort zones, try new things, and grow in confidence.
Train Rides, Castles, and Museums: A Journey Through History
As part of our summer adventures, we embarked on several trips that took us back in time. We hopped on the NYMR steam train not once, but four times, each ride filled with excitement and anticipation of what lay ahead. Our three visits to Pickering were nothing short of amazing, with two of those visits dedicated to exploring the majestic Pickering Castle. Walking through the castle grounds, we could almost hear the echoes of history, imagining what life was like centuries ago.
Our journey also took us to the Beck Isle Museum, where we got a glimpse into the local history and the way people lived in the past. The museum’s exhibits were fascinating, offering us a hands-on experience with the artifacts and stories that shaped the area. It was a wonderful way to connect with history and learn more about the heritage of our community.
Building Bonds and Making Memories
Beyond the activities and trips, what made this summer truly special were the connections we forged. We welcomed new members to our WHISH community, each one bringing their own unique energy and enthusiasm. Together, we created memories that will last a lifetime, from the shared laughter during a game to the quiet moments of reflection after a busy day of adventure.
As we look back on these 18 days of FEAST and our East Barnby excursions, we can’t help but feel grateful for the experiences we’ve had and the people we’ve met. This summer at the Hub has been more than just a series of activities—it’s been a journey of growth, friendship, and joy.
Looking Forward
As the summer comes to a close, we’re already looking forward to the next chapter and Christmas FEAST. Whether it’s more adventures at the Hub, new challenges at East Barnby, or just the day-to-day fun of being part of the WHISH community, we know there are plenty of exciting times ahead. Here’s to the memories we’ve made and the ones still to come!
