Exciting Changes at WHISH: Building Work to Improve Accessibility!

Big things are happening at WHISH! Last month, we temporarily closed our doors to allow essential building work to begin on a project that will make our Hub more accessible, inclusive, and welcoming for everyone. 

 

The biggest and most exciting change is the installation of a lift, which will make our building far more accessible for all current and potential members. During the week of closure, significant progress was made: 

 

✅ Foundations for the lift were dug out and installed 

✅ The lift room was prepped and made ready for the installation 

✅ All doors were widened to improve wheelchair access 

✅ The main entrance was redecorated, creating a warm and welcoming space 

 

Even though the Hub was closed, our dedicated staff continued working from home, ensuring everything at WHISH ran smoothly behind the scenes. 

 

What’s Next? 

 

The lift is set to be fully installed in the second week of April, marking a huge milestone in making WHISH a space that truly works for everyone. This project is all about ensuring that every child, parent, and visitor—regardless of mobility needs—can fully enjoy everything WHISH has to offer.
