FEAST at WHISH

During the Easter, Summer and Christmas school holidays, WHISH delivers FEAST sessions, providing children with fun, engaging activities alongside healthy, nutritious meals.

FEAST is North Yorkshire's Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, funded by the Department for Education. The programme is commissioned by North Yorkshire Council and coordinated by North Yorkshire Together. It supports children who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals, as well as other children with identified needs, ensuring they can enjoy enriching holiday experiences in a safe and welcoming environment.

The FEAST programme provides immediate support to families by helping to ease the financial pressures of the school holidays, including access to healthy food and affordable childcare. It also plays an important role in improving children's well-being, encouraging social interaction, building confidence, and helping to prevent issues such as isolation during holiday periods.

Each year, more than 50 local children take part in FEAST sessions at WHISH. The programme enables parents and carers to continue working during the school holidays, knowing their children are safe, well cared for and enjoying a wide range of activities with friends.

Our commitment to delivering high-quality, inclusive holiday provision has been recognised across North Yorkshire. Among more than 100 FEAST providers, WHISH was honoured with the **Flying High Award** in recognition of our outstanding provision and our dedication to helping children, young people and families thrive.
