Whitby's WHISH charity has been awarded The King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS), the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the United Kingdom. 
 
Equivalent to an MBE, this prestigious accolade recognises outstanding work by volunteer organisations that benefit their communities.

'Inspiration to youth of today' - Whitby lad Isaac completes first marathon for charity 

A determined 15-year-old from Whitby has completed a full marathon to raise money for the Whitby Hidden Impairments Support & Help (WHISH) charity, raising more than £2,500. 
 
Isaac Harrison, a student at Whitby School, ran 26.2 miles from Scarborough Sea Life Centre to Whitby, cheered on by family, friends, and classmates who followed his progress online.

Night of entertainment in Whitby raises £1,500 to be split between three charities 

A night of entertainment from Hypnotist David Bolton, Pete Clarkson, Indigo, Roddy Gordon Band and ended with a breathtaking fire performance finale from Doble Fuego, was held at The Chapel on the Hill in Whitby. 
 
Organised by Rachel Clarkson, the event benefitted not one, but three local charities – WHISH, Whitby Disablement Action Group (DAG) and Whitby & Esk Valley Active Travel

Mayor Boosts Community Hubs with New Funding- Highlighting Whitby's WHISH Project 

In the initial phase, David Skaith allocated £600,000 from his investment fund to 21 village halls and community buildings across North Yorkshire.  
 
The Mayor's vision is that "Everyone North Yorkshire should be able to thrive where they live- he picked out Whitby's WHISH project as an example.

Whitby charity WHISH honoured at York Minster garden party 

Whitby charity WHISH was among organisations invited to the Lord Lieutenant and Archbishop’s Garden Party held in the Deanery Gardens at York Minster. 
 
The party was held to recognise the fantastic work carried out by volunteers and staff from various organisations across the county and Diocese, work which often goes unseen.

Whitby Co-op Funeralcare makes generous donation to WHISH charity 

The Whitby branch of Co-op Funeralcare has donated £250 to WHISH (Whitby Hidden Impairment Support & Help) through its community donation scheme. 
 
WHISH is a parent-led small charity based in Whitby, which is completely self-funded, supporting more than 160 children and young people in the area who have a disability or Hidden Impairment.
